I’m running to bring responsible, disciplined, and transparent leadership to the McHenry County Board. Our county needs leaders who can protect conservation, respect taxpayers, support small businesses and agriculture, and plan for growth without losing the character that makes McHenry County worth calling home.

Bud Bowie is an outdoor enthusiast and member of the County Audubon Society, Environmental Defenders of McHenry County, the McHenry County Historical Society as well as numerous other national organizations. Bud understands that McHenry County Conservation Districts are an inestimable treasure and a legacy for our children. They are also a major draw for regional visitors who make critical contributions to our local economy. These areas also attract new residents who have the same beliefs in conservation as the many residents who have enjoyed the parks for decades. These parks must be preserved and protected. The County Leadership must balance that preservation against the need to responsibly grow our residential population, sustain our local work force and agriculture and attract new light industrial and commercial enterprises which will provide the jobs and income necessary to improve our financial health.
Housing
Bud Bowie has senior management experience in both Government and Private Industry and understands the needs, demands and responsibilities of both.Through his own experience in private industry, Bud understands the needs and concerns problems of small businesses. In his long military career, he developed the analytical and planning skills necessary to successfully negotiate the complex details of major public projects. Bud is committed to fair, pragmatic, bipartisan and transparent approaches to public leadership that balance the needs of public interest with the rights of the individual and brings the necessary skill to negotiate the many difficult challenges facing McHenry going forward.
Business
Bud Bowie is committed to government fiscal responsibility and transparency. Bud believes in a “fair deal” for all workers and employers. He believes in respecting the basic human dignity and rights of all citizens. He believes our remarkable County Conservation Districts are legacy for our children. Bud Bowie will bring the responsible, disciplined, experienced and non-partisan leadership to the County Board.
